Australia’s head coach, Tim Hamill, has selected 15 players to compete at the World Championships in Singapore (July 12 – 24).
Nine of the 13 players who won 8th place at the Paris Olympics will represent Australia in Singapore.
Double Olympian and captain Nathan Power leads the team. Besides him, goalkeeper Nic Porter, Marcus Berehulak, Matthew Byrnes, Angus Lambie, Milos Maksimovic, Jacop Mercep, Charlie Negus, and Luke Pavillard played in Paris . Additionally, experienced player Tim Putt, who missed the 2024 Olympics, has made a return to the team.
The remaining five athletes on the roster will make their debut at the World Championships.
Several players have had experience in European water polo. Luke Pavillard, a former player of Barceloneta, is expected to join Pro Recco. Goalkeeper Nic Porter has recently moved from Barceloneta to Panionios. Milos Maksimovic will play for Posillipo next season. Byrnes will join Sabac. Porter has played in Europe, like Mercep and some others.

Australia was drawn in Group B in Singapore along with European champion Spain,Hungary and Japan.
The “Sharks” have just returned from the tour in California, where they beat Team USA twice and suffered one defeat. Their final phase of the preparations will be a training camp with Serbia in Thailand.
Last year, Australia finished in 11th place at the 2024 World Championships in Singapore. This season, the”Sharks” didn’t enter the World Cup.
