Barceloneta qualified for the Spanish Championships final after two games in the semifinals of the playoffs, while the second finalist will be determined after the third encounter between Barcelona and Sabadell.
Barceloneta beat Terrassa by six goals in the second match (16:10). Barcelona edged out Sabadell 12:11 at home, avenging its earlier 6:11 defeat and leveling the series.
An excellent start put Barceloneta on the right track in the game against Terrassa. Barceloneta rushed to a 4:0 lead. Terrassa managed to cut the deficit to two goals twice (3:5 and 4:6). Then, the visitors scored three straight goals to jump to 9:4 early in the third period. Barceloneta didn’t let Terrassa come close in the rest of the game. Bernat Sanahuja and Roger Tahull scored three goals each for the winning team. However, the best scorer of the match was Terrassa’s Ignasi Bargallo, who found the net four times, like in the first game.
The match between Barcelona and Sabadell was an even contest until 4:4. After Sabadell scored its fourth goal, Barcelona held the visitors scoreless for more than eight minutes while going on a 4:0 run. Early in the third period, Barcelona led 8:4. Several minutes later, the hosts extended their lead to six goals (11:5 and 12:6). Sabadell then began to mount a comeback, narrowing the gap to 8:12 by the end of the third quarter. In the fourth period, the visitors scored three unanswered goals for 11:12 with four minutes left in the game. However, no further goals were scored, meaning a third match in Sabadell’s pool will determine which team joins Barceloneta in the final. The top scorers in the game were Ramiro Veich from Barcelona, Alberto Barroso, and Francisco Valera from Sabadell, scoring three goals.
