Four very interesting games were played in Group A of the Champions League on Day 3. All the games offered a lot of excitements. This evening’s derby was an encounter between Barceloneta and Szolnok. The Spaniards defeated Szolnok by four goals (14:10). Olympiacos edged out Jadran Herceg Novi (8:7). Jug came from three goals behind to beat Spandau 04 (12:7), while Sintez Kazan defeated Jadran Split (16:11).

Szolnok grabbed an early 2:0 lead. It took almost 6 minutes before Barceloneta found the net for the first time. Felipe Perrone converted a man-up for 1:2. The Spaniards retook control in the second quarter and built a 2-goal lead by halftime (8:6). The third quarter was balanced, while Barceloneta’s Alvaro Granados netted his 5th goal in the 2nd minute of the last period, to extend the margin on 3 (11:8). After that, The hosts were very close to a win. They had a 12:9 advantage. Szolnok’s last effort was Dory’s goal for 10:12 two and a half minutes before the end. However, Barceloneta netted two goals in the last two minutes and secured a nice 14:10 victory.
Jug – Spandau 04 12:7 (2:4,2:2, 3:0, 5:1)

Spandau 04 shocked Jug in the opening minutes of the encounter played in Dubrovnik. The Germans were 4:1 up after six minutes of the play. The hosts, which were the big favourites, managed to regroup themselves during the first break. They reduced the gap twice in the second quarter (3:4, 4:5). Still, Spandau had a 2-goals advantage at halftime (6:4).
Jug secured the win with a 6:0 run in the second quarter (just like ten days ago in the match against Barceloneta). The Croats dominated the third period and they earned the first lead thanks to Filip Krzic, who hit the back of the net in the last second of this quarter (7:6). The Croats added three goals by the middle of the last quarter and built a safe 4-goal gap (10:6). Spandau couldn’t recover from that shock. Loren Fatovic who netted 6 goals, was a hero of Jug’s 12:7 victory.
Olympiacos – Jadran HN 8:7 (2:1, 2:2, 2:3, 2:1)

There were a lot of twists and turns in a great battle in Piraeus. The lead was constantly changing the side, but the distance between the teams was never larger than a goal. At halftime, Olympiacos led 4:3. Jadran had an advantage twice during the third quarter (5:4, 6:5), but before the fourth period, the sides were tied at 6:6. Early in the fourth, Stefan Mitrovic put Olympiacos 7:6 ahead, but quickly after that, Marko Petkovic equalised (7:7). After that, both teams had nice chances, but just Olympiacos’s Stylianos Argyropoulos managed to score. He netted a winner for 8:7 with 01:23 to go. The top scorer in Jug was Maro Jokovic (4 goals). Jadran’s Djuro Radovic finished the match with 3 goals.
Sintez – Jadran S 16:11 (4:3, 4:4, 5:2, 3:2)
Sintez Kazan: Lazarev 3,Ryzhov-Alenichev 3, Andrykov 3, Zinnurov 2, Lisunov 2, Bugaychuk 1, Krasnov 1, Dereviankin 1.
Jadran Split: Zovic 4, Delic 3, Buric 2, Krapic 1, Butic 1.
Sintez Kazan beat Jadran Split for first three points in the season and moved up from the bottom of the table. The Russians led for most of the time, but Jadran went ahead in the middle of the second quarter (6:5). Sintez responded with three goals for a 8:6 advantage. The hosts built a 4-goal advantage in deep into the third period (12:8 and 13:9) and controlled the match in the remaining time.
