After many years of playing for foreign clubs, the experienced Montenegrin athlete Darko Brguljan, 34, has returned to his homeland.
Brguljan, who played for Posillipo in the previous season, has joined Buducnost, a club based in the capital of Montenegro, Podgorica. Buducnost was founded seven years ago, but it only formed a senior team last summer. In the previous season, Buducnost finished in third place in the Montenegrin Championships, which qualified them for the Group Stage of the Euro Cup.
Brguljan won the 2009 Champions League with Primorac Kotor. Throughout his career, he has played for several teams, including Cannottieri Naples, Waspo 98 Hannover, Primorje Rijeka, Posillipo, as well as Neptuns in the Maltese Summer League and Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
On the international stage, Darko Brguljan has represented Montenegro and won silver medals at the 2013 World Championships and the 2016 European Championships. He was a member of the team that finished 4th at the 2016 Olympic Games.
