Montenegrin champion Jadran Herceg Novi made a significant addition to its roster by signing Francisco Valera, a 26-year-old Spanish forward, from Sabadell.
Valera has been part of the national team for several years and recently won the World Cup with Spain. His collection of medals includes two bronze medals from the World Championships (2023, 2024), a bronze medal from the 2022 European Championships, a gold medal from the 2023 World Cup, and a bronze medal from the 2022 World League. He did not participate in the Olympic Games in Paris, but he will represent Spain at the upcoming World Championships in Singapore.
His most significant achievement with Sabadell, the second-best club in Spain, was winning the Euro Cup in 2022.
Valera is the third reinforcement for Jadran this summer, following the return of goalkeeper Lazar Andric and Daniil Merkulov.
Five players departed from Jadran after winning the 2025 Montenegrin Championships. Legendary Aleksandar Ivovic retired, Danilo Radovic joined Posillipo, Uros Vucurovic moved to Telimar, Vuk Milojevic returned to Crvena Zvezda, and goalkeeper Darko Djurovic signed with Sabac.
