As anticipated, Marco Del Lungo, one of the best Italian goalkeepers over the last 15 years, has moved to Savona.
The 35-year-old left Pro Recco to replace Gianmarco Nicosia, marking a practical exchange of goalkeepers between the two clubs, as Nicosia will play for Pro Recco for the next three seasons.
Del Lungo began his senior career at Civitavecchia before moving to Brescia in 2011, where he played for ten seasons. During his time at Brescia, he won one Italian League title, one Italian Cup, and the Euro Cup in 2016. In the past four seasons, he wore the number 1 cap at Pro Recco. While with Recco, Del Lungo achieved significant success, clinching two Champions League titles (in 2022 and 2023), the Euro Cup in 2025, three European Super Cups, and seven domestic trophies.
The experienced goalkeeper made his debut for the Italian national team in 2013 and has since played 283 games for “Settebello.” He has won nine medals, including an Olympic bronze medal in 2016, the title of world champion in 2019, a silver medal at the 2024 World Championships, gold in the 2022 World League. Although Del Lungo will not play for Italy this summer, he has not yet said goodbye to the national team.
