Ferencvaros and Vasas qualified for the final of the Hungarian League after the first games of the semifinals.
The system of the semifinals in the Hungarian League is unique. Points accumulated in mutual encounters in the regular season are carried over to the semifinals. A team must collect seven points in the series to advance (note: there are no draws in the playoffs, with each win earning three points).
Since Ferencvaros and Vasas each defeated their respective rivals twice during the regular season, they only needed one victory in the semifinals. Both teams quickly concluded the semifinals by securing wins in the first leg.
Ferencvaros rival was BVSC. The European champion defeated BVSC two times very convincingly in the regular season (16:7 and 14:8). Their first (and only) match in the 2025 semifinals closely mirrored these earlier encounters. BVSC managed to level the score only once early on, at 1:1. Following this equalizer, Ferencvaros went on a 4:0 run, taking a 5:1 lead. BVSC narrowed the gap to 3:5, but Ferencvaros reestablished a four-goal advantage by halftime, leading 7:3. In the second half, the title-holder dominated and ultimately secured a 16:7 victory. Edoardo Di Somma was the standout scorer with five goals, while Marton Vamos contributed four. For BVSC, Ekler, Bundschuh, and Meszaros each scored two goals.
Vasas faced Szolnok. The Budapest-based team carried five and Szolnok one point to the semifinals. Vasas got off to a flying start in the semifinals, taking a 3:0, 5:1, and an 8:2 lead in the first half. Szolnok started climbing back after the middle break and cut the deficit to two goals early in the fourth period (7:9). In the rest of the match, the teams exchanged goals. Vasas controlled the game and kept a 2-goal distance, winning 11:9. Djurdjic, Mijic, Batori and Batizi scored two goals each for Vasas, while Schmolcz and Kovacs netted three for Szolnok.
Honved and OSC will play in the 5th-place playoffs. Honved easily beat Szeged today, 7:3, while OSC secured its third win of the season over Kaposvar only after a penalty shootout (18:17).
