As the regular season draws to a close, the battle for the semifinals of the Hungarian League becomes increasingly exciting.
In the derby of the 23rd round, Vasas defeated OSC in a match that featured many twists and turns. Following this defeat, OSC fell below 4th place, a position that secures the last semifinal ticket. Currently, BVSC is ahead of OSC due to a better head-to-head record, but BVSC is also scheduled to face Vasas. Ferencvaros has officially secured 1st place in the regular season, with its 23rd victory.
OSC’s solid defense allowed the visitors to take a 2:0 lead over Vasas after the first quarter. However, Vasas quickly turned the game around, scoring three goals in less than three minutes of the second period to take a 3:2 lead. OSC then responded with a series of three goals, but Vasas managed to level the score at 5:5. OSC regained the lead twice in the third quarter, first at 6:5 and then at 7:6. In the 24th minute, Vasas pulled ahead with an 8:7 lead. OSC equalized shortly after, but the visitors faced difficulties in the attack in the final eight minutes, failing to score.
Maybe a crucial moment came when Vasas’s goalkeeper, Marton Levai, saved a penalty shot from Rossi in the 27th minute. Following that, Vasas earned a penalty shot on their next possession, which Montenegrin player Bogdan Djurdjic converted to a 9:8 lead. Djurdjic emerged as the hero of Vasas’s victory, scoring five goals, including the final goal that secured a 10:8 win with just 26 seconds remaining on the clock.
BVSC, led by David Tatrai (3 goals), secured three points in an away game against DVSE, winning 12:6. The outcome was largely determined in the first ten minutes, during which BVSC established an early 6:0 advantage.
Ferencvaros proved too strong for Eger, reaching a 20-goal margin (29:9). Vendel Vigvari stood out, contributing five goals to the team’s victory, while Manhercz, Mandic, and Fekete each added four goals.
Szolnok faced a strong challenge in their away match against UVSE. The young home team put up a notable fight, trailing by only one goal at halftime (5:4 in favor of Szolnok). However, the visitors maintained control and eventually secured a 12:7 victory, with Schmolcz scoring four goals.
In a match against PVSK Pecs, Honved started strong with an impressive 7:1 lead in the first quarter, setting the tone for the rest of the game. The crucial difference was established in those first eight minutes, and Honved went on to record a 16:10 victory.
