The battle for first place in the Hungarian League concluded today, and the outcome was as expected. Ferencvaros, the big favorite, secured its 27th national championship title, winning the championship for the fourth consecutive year.
“Fradi” became the first club in the 101-year history of the Hungarian Championships to win the 27th title. From the last season until today, Ferencvaros and Ujpest shared the record with 26 trophies each.
Ferencvaros completed the domestic season with a perfect 29 – 0 record. This evening, “Fradi” demolished Vasas in the third game of the final series, 22:5.
The previous two matches had been quite competitive, both ending with a two-goal difference. However, after very good performances in the two exhausting encounters, Vasas ran out of steam for the third match. Ferencvaros played at full speed from the first whistle until the end. The title-holder effectively clinched the victory and the title with a 10:3 first half.
More precisely, the second quarter proved crucial for the game. Vasas initially kept pace with the favorite during the first eight minutes, taking a 1:0 lead with a goal from Lakatos on his team’s first possession. Ferencvaros responded with three straight goals—Argyropoulos opened the scoring, followed by two goals from Vigvari. By the middle of the first period, Ferencvaros led 3:1 and maintained that advantage entering the eighth minute. In the final 49 seconds of the first period, three goals were scored: Doma brought Vasas closer at 2:3, Mandic then stretched Ferencvaros’ advantage, but his Serbian national teammate Sava Randjelovic closed the first period at 3:4.

Ferencvaros’ defense, led by Soma Vogel, performed exceptionally well in the second quarter, while the attackers were unstoppable. By halftime, the reigning champions scored six unanswered goals, increasing their lead to 10:3.
Early in the third quarter, Szilard Jansik extended Ferencvaros’ scoring run with a power-play goal (11:3). Bogdan Djurdjic ended Ferencvaros’ 7:0 run and Vasas’ 11-minute scoring drought, but it was too late for a comeback. By the end of the third period, Ferencvaros increased its lead to 14:4. In the final eight minutes, the new-old champion was merciless to Vasas players and recorded a 17-goal victory.
