After a one-month break, the Spanish League resumed with the first matches of the playoff semifinals. The favorites, Barceloneta and Sabadell, did not disappoint their fans, both achieving convincing victories. Barceloneta opened the playoffs with an 18:11 win over Terrassa, while Sabadell defeated Barcelona 11:6.
Barceloneta led throughout the match against Terrassa and earned a 6:2 lead early in the second quarter. The visitors attempted to come back and narrowed the deficit at the finish of the period (6:7 and 7:8). After the middle break, Barceloneta players produced a 5:0 run to build a 13:7 advantage and secured the victory. Bernat Sanahuja led Barceloneta with four goals, while Alvaro Granados scored three. Terrassa’s Ignasi Bargallo found the net four times.
Sabadell needed some time to break Barcelona’s resistance. Still, it built a 4-goal lead by the end of the second quarter (7:3). In the third period, the hosts increased the margin to five (8:3). Barcelona then netted two back-to-back goals (5:8), but Sabadell’s response was a 3:0 series for a safe 11:5 advantage. Barcelona scored a consolation goal at the finish. Averka, Corres, and Bustos each scored two goals for Sabadell. Veich and Ramon netted two goals for Barcelona.
