Peristeri produced a big surprise on Day 2 of the Greek League. Peristeri, the debutant in the A1 League, defeated Ydraikos, the 3rd-placed team in the 2019/20 season. Ydraikos was the host of this match, in the pool in Alimos (South Athens).

Peristeri proved that there would be a lot of surprises in the Greek League this season. The league is balanced, and there are no untouchable teams. Peristeri played excellently in defense. It built a crucial advantage in the second quarter. American Matt Farmer, who arrived from Sabadell to Peristeri this summer, scored two goals for the winning team, as well as Agotsas. Foskolos scored three goals for Ydriakos.
Vouliagmeni, which defeated Olympiacos on Day 1, recorded the second win. Vouliagmeni beat PAOK. It was more difficult than it was expected – 11:9. In the second quarter, Vouliagmeni led 6:3, but PAOK equalized – 6:6. The hosts responded with two goals and went 8:6 up. PAOK cut the deficit from a penalty shot (7:8). After that, Vouliagmeni regained a 3-goal advantage (10:7) and secured three points. An experienced Emmanouil Mylonakis netted three goals for the winning team, but the top scorer was PAOK’s Filip Radojevic (four goals).
Apollon Smyrnis, led by Alexandros Gounas and Emmanouil Solanakis (each scored four goals), beat Palaio Faliro.
Titleholder Olympiacos showed no mercy to the newcomer to A1 League AEK -17:5 (Kakaris topped the scorers’ list with four goals).
Ben Stevenson, an attacker of the Team USA, was the hero of Glyfada’s win over Ethnikos (11:8). The American finished the match with six goals.
