Jadran Herceg Novi defeated Radnicki 13:12 at home in the derby of the Regional League 20th round.
This victory significantly boosts the Montenegrins’ chances of retaining first place in the regular season, thus securing the right to host the Final Four. To achieve this, they need to defeat Primorje and Solaris in their last two matches, both of which they are considerably favored to win.
The first goal of the derby came after five minutes of play, with Strahinja Rasovic giving Radnički an early advantage. The home team only managed to score in the final minute of the opening period, thanks to Serbian international Vuk Milojević, capitalizing on a two-player advantage in the pool (1:1). However, the second quarter was dramatically different, featuring a lot of goals. Jadran led 5:3 midway through the period and maintained a two-goal cushion until halftime, finishing the first 16 minutes at 8:6.
In the third quarter, the teams exchanged goals. Radnicki equalized at the start of the final period with a goal from Dusko Pijetlovic, making it 11:11. Radnicki missed several opportunities to take the lead and ultimately paid the price. With just over three minutes remaining, left-handed player Danilo Stupar ended a nearly five-minute scoreless phase, giving Jadran the advantage at 12:11. However,Rasovic quickly answered with a goal for Radnički, tying the score at 12:12. Immediately after, an experienced Aleksandar Ivovic put Jadran in front – 13:12. Radnički had the final opportunity to secure at least a point, but Vapenski’s shot hit the post with just 17 seconds left on the clock.
The top scorers of the match were Vuk Milojevic and Dmitri Kholod (both from Jadran), along with Strahinja Rašović from Radnicki, each netting three goals.
