Olympiacos added the 39th title of the Greek champion to its treasury, defeating Vouliagmeni 3:0 in the best-of-five series of the playoffs final.
The third game, played in the Olympiacos pool, turned into a scoring festival. Olympiacos recorded an 18:14 victory for its 23rd double crown (after winning the Greek Cup earlier this season).
Olympiacos took an early lead with a score of 2:0. Vouliagmeni equalized at 2:2 with two goals from Chatzis at the end of the first quarter. From that point until the score reached 5:5, both teams traded goals. In the 12th minute, Kastrinakis scored a power-play goal, putting Vouliagmeni ahead with a score of 6:5. Olympiacos responded with two goals from Zalanki and Fountoulis to regain the lead, but it was short-lived as Chatzis scored again, closing the first half with the score tied at 7:7.
Olympiacos took control in the second half, scoring three straight goals. In the middle of the third period, the home team built a 3-goal lead for the first time (10:7). Olympiacos entered the final period with a 4-goal advantage (13:9). Four minutes before the end, six goals separated the rivals (16:10). Vouliagmeni reduced the gap until the end.
Although 32 goals were scored, only a few players contributed significantly to the scoresheet. Two goal-getters stood out. Olympiacos’ legend Ioannis Fountoulis netted seven goals, while Dimitrios Chatzis from Vouliagmeni also scored seven times.
