The winner of the 2025 Italian League will be determined after the third game of the playoff finals. This evening, Pro Recco defeated Brescia in front of its home crowd – 13:10 -tying the series at 1:1. The third and final match will take place on Tuesday in Brescia.
Brescia took a one-goal lead three times in the first quarter, while Recco leveled on each occasion. Aaron Younger scored from a penalty shot in the 11th minute to give Recco a first lead in the match, 4:3. However, Brescia forced a penalty shot in its following possession. Dolce made no mistake from the 5m line to level at 4:4. At the finish of the quarter, Recco started taking control and earned a 2-goal lead. In the 15th minute, Giacomo Cannella made it 6:4. Still, only a goal separated the rivals at halftime, as Faraglia halved Brescia’s deficit just two seconds before the end of the 2nd period – 5:6.
Recco opened the second half excellently, scoring four goals in a row. In the middle of the quarter, Giacomo Cannella added his third goal in the match to make it 10:5. Brescia narrowed the gap to three with to quick goals from Balzarini (7:10), but couldn’t recover from a 0:4 series. Recco entered the final period with a 11:8 lead, but without Francesco Di Fulvio, who was red-carded just eight seconds before the last break. The tensions were rising. Brescia’s Balzarni was sent off with just 26 seconds in the fourth period. Condemi scored with an extra player to extend the margin to four – 12:8. By the end of the game, Brescia reduced its deficit to two goals (9:12 and 10:13). However, Recco controlled the match until the final buzzer.
