A best-of-five series of matches in the German League final began in Berlin, featuring archrivals Spandau 04 and Waspo Hannover competing for the title once again. Waspo 98 took a 1:0 lead, edging out Spandau in a penalty shootout 15:14. At the end of the regular time of a thrilling match, the teams were tied at 10:10.
The game was filled with twists and turns, as the lead changed hands multiple times, with the teams never separated by more than two goals. At halftime, the score was 4:4. Spandau entered the final quarter leading 8:7, while Schipper leveled at 8:8 early in the final period.
After several minutes without goals, Strelezkij converted a man-up in the 30th minute, putting Hannover in front. Spandau responded with two goals from Vukojevic and Kojic, regaining the lead at 10:9 with just 33 seconds left on the clock. Only 18 seconds later, Lozina equalized, sending the match into a penalty shootout. The Hannover players were flawless during the shootout, and a single miss from Spandau was enough to decide the match.
Waspo 98 will now have the opportunity to secure the title on its home ground, as the next two matches will take place in Hannover.
