Waspo 98 Hannover achieved a stunning 16:6 victory over Spandau 04 in the second match of the German League final. This win gives the Hannover-based team a “match point” to secure the title in the next game, which will take place in its home pool on Saturday.
Few could expect a 10-goal difference in the second game. The final series began with a thrilling match in Berlin, where Hannover narrowly defeated Spandau in a penalty shootout.
The opening minutes of the encounter in Hannover did not suggest that Spandau would face a catastrophe. The home side led most of the match, but the teams were in an even contest during the first quarter, with Spandau leveling the score at 3:3 and again at 4:4. However, Hannover took charge in the second period, building a 10:5 lead by halftime. The hosts maintained that dominant performance throughout the following 16 minutes.
