Vladimir Gojković joins the Total Player Award for the second time. This year, the head coach of Montenegro brings some new players on the table, along with two who stayed on the list.

As a former player, Gojković is best known for winning the silver at the 2004 Olympics, and the gold at the 2005 World Championships. He later got another gold, playing for Montenegro at the European Championships in 2008.

Before becoming the head coach of the Montenegrin National Team, he started with Jadran Herceg Novi. In 2017, he led Montenegro to silver at the European Championships in Beograd.

Vladimir Gojković’s Total 5 of 2018

1st – Aleksandar Ivović

Montenegrin National Player | Club: Pro Recco | Position: Driver

“Not only is Ivović a great leader both in Pro Recco and his National Team, but he’s also an outstanding player all over the pool. But where he shines the most is the Back position, and I could easily say he’s the best in the world at the moment.”

Felipe Perrone Rocha

2nd – Felipe Perrone

Spanish National Player | Club: Barceloneta | Position: Field Player

“Perrone is the man behind the giant leap Barceloneta and the Spanish National Team had in the last season. There aren’t many players who can outplay him. He’s great at counter-attacking, assisting and scoring. An all-in-one package every team wishes they could have in crucial moments.”

3rd – Andrija Prlainović

Serbian National Player | Club: Szolnoki VSC | Position: Wing

“Only the injury he got during the finals stopped him and his team from getting the gold in Barcelona. I’m putting him on the list for the second year in a row because even with the injury, he managed to be among the best of the best.”

4th – Luka Lončar

Croatian National Player | Club: VK Jug | Position: Centre Forward

“Lončar is currently the best Center in the world. He always gives everything he got, whether he’s playing for Jug or for the Croatian National Team.”

Daniel Lopez Pinedo

5th – Daniel Lopez Pinedo

Spanish National Player | Club: Barceloneta | Position: Goalkeeper

“Along with Perrone, Pinedo is the player who delivered the big score for Spain on the European Championships. He defends the shots everyone would think impossible, but that’s just one of the skills he brings to the pool. To name another – his leadership, it can hardly be compared.
