Ferencvaros won its 4th Hungarian Cup and 21st in a total.

“Fradi “beat Hungarian champion Szolnok 12:9 in today’s final played in Sopron and successfully defended trophy won last year. In the season 2020/21, Ferencvaros and Szolnok faced off in the final, just like this year. In the previous final, the winner was decided in a penalty shoot. Today’s game was open until the very end, but Ferencvaros secured the trophy with two goals in the last two minutes.

Szolnok responded with three straight goals and leveled at 6:6 early in the third. Vamos gave a new advantage to Ferencvaros shortly after (7:6), but Shmolcz equalized immediately (7:7). After that, both defenses were excellent. There were no goals in the last five minutes of the third.

Ferencvaros’ Italian Luca Damonte opened the last quarter converting a man-up for 8:7. But, Szolnok’s Scmolcz found the net in the next possession (8:8) to equalize for the last time in the match. Midway through the final period, a young player of the Budapest-based team Gergo Fekete scored two goals in a span of 62 seconds, and Ferencvaros earned a 10:8 lead.

Szolnok halved the deficit (9:10) with 03:15 minutes to go. However, Denes Varga and Vendel Vigvari scored a goal each in the last two minutes and Ferencvaros retained the trophy with a solid 12:9 victory.
