After 12 successful years with Pro Recco, Matteo Aicardi is leaving the club at the end of the season to join Genoa Quinto.
His time at Pro Recco saw him win nine Italian championships and ten Italian cups. Aicardi also played a pivotal role in Pro Recco's recent dominance in the Champions League, helping the team secure the prestigious title four times.
Alongside his flourishing club career, centre-forward Aicardi has been a staple of the Italian National Team for well over a decade. While the 38-year-old never managed to capture gold at the Olympic Games, he did come close on two occasions - silver at London 2012 and bronze at Rio 2016.
Aicardi confirmed his move to Quinto in an interview with Genova24, saying, "I will continue for two more seasons at SC Quinto, then we will see if I am still fit or not. Living from sport is the best life I could have chosen.
