Barcelona extends winning streak

Three games of the 7th round of the Spanish championships were played this weekend. Two matches were postponed, as Barceloneta and Terrassa faced the European challenges in the Champions League.

Spanish Championship 2019/20, Round 7

Barcelona – Mediterrani 10:7 (3:2, 3:2, 1:0, 3:3)

Barcelona:Marsal 3, Flores 2, Ferrer 1, Van den Burg 1, Duric 1, Goma 1, Delgado 1.
Mediterrani: Minguell 2, Vujovic 2, Gorria 1, Roca 1, Perez 1.

Navarra – Sabadell 6:10 (4:2, 0:2, 1:2, 1:4)

Water polo Navarra: Domonkos 3, Arriazu 2, Esteban 1.
Sabadell: Fenoy 5, Cabanas 4, Avramovic 1.

Sant Andreu – Tenerife 18:9 (4:1, 5:4, 4:3, 5:1)

The derby of the round was an encounter between Barcelona and Mediterrani, played in the biggest Catalan city. Home side Barcelona led 6:4 after the first half. Early in the fourth period, the hosts gained an 8:4 advantage and secured the three points (10:7) . Barcelona extended its winning streak. After a draw with Terrassa in the first round (12:12) Barcelona recorded five straight victories.

Sabadell found a bit harder to take points in Pamplona than expected. Home team Navarra gained a 4:2 advantage in the first quarter . Sabadell, led by Borja Fenoy Valverde and Sergi Cabanas Pegado, took control after the first break and scored three unanswered goals to go 5:4 up early in the third period. The hosts equalised (5:5), but Sabadell responded with a 5:0 series for a safe 10:5 lead. Navarra its 6th goal scored six seconds from the end for the final score 6:10.

Sant Andreu demolished Tenerife – 18:9.
