Barceloneta and Terrassa were in a good mood before the derby. This week, both teams were successful on the European stage. Barceloneta beat Olympiacos 10:5 and practically secured 1st place in the Champions League Group B. Terrassa advanced to the final of the LEN Challenger Cup. But, the difference in the quality between the Champions League and the Challenger Cup isn’t tiny. There is a big difference between Barceloneta and Terrassa, too. The Spanish champion, playing without Felipe Perrone, dominated the match. Terrassa equalized only once (1:1). Barceloneta, led by 20-year-old Unai Biel (5 goals) built an 8:2 by the end of the third period and increased the margin to nine (13:4) in the fourth quarter.

Sabadell’s defense was also excellent in this round. The league leader blew Mediterrani away. Early in the third period, the Sanadell had a 6:1 advantage. It continued dominating for a 9:3 victory.

Barcelona had a good start in the match against the 11th-placed Caballa and took a 3:0 lead. However, the underdog started coming back. Caballa leveled at 3:3, 4:4, and 5:5 in the second quarter. Francesco Molina gave Caballa a 6:5 lead in the 19th minute. The visitors kept the advantage for a while. Still, Barcelona retook control at the finish of this period. American Olympian Marko Vavic scored two goals within 18 seconds in the 23rd minute and put Barcelona in front – 7:6. The hosts dominated the final period and recorded a 12:7 victory.

Mataro struggled in the first half, but it beat Catalunya. After a 3:3 first quarter, Catalunya scored the first goal in the second period for 4:3. The home side had a chance to double its advantage from a penalty shot but missed. After that, Mataro produced a 6:0 run, holding Catalunya goalless for 13 minutes, and earned a safe 9:4 lead.

Tenerife beat Real Canoe 14:9. Until the 14th minute. Then, Tenerife scored four goals in a row to jump from 6:5 to 10:5 and controlled the game in the remaining time.

Sant Andreu defeated Rubi by nine goals (15:6).
