The second day of the menβs water polo tournament at the 19th World Championships is scheduled for this evening.
But only seven games will be held. FINA announced that the game Canada β Italy (Group C, Sopron) wonβt be played today. More information on the reasons why the game was postponed will be provided, FINA said. But, the reasons are related to the players’ health.
The Italian Swimming Federation announced that three players of the Canadian team had tested positive for Covid.
There is still no official information on wheater the match was postponed or canceled, but it’s likely that Italy will win the game with a technical score (5:0)
FINAβs announcement:
“The Canada-Italy menβs water polo match during the Group Phase of the 19th FINA World Championships Budapest 2022, scheduled for 22 June 2022 at 19:30 CET in Sopron, Hungary, will not be played tonight. All other game(s) will be held as scheduled.
The health and wellbeing of all participants is our priority and will continue to guide our decision on whether the match will be replayed or result in a forfeit.
