The calendar of water polo competitions is fully packed, and the LEN competitions’ draws follow that rhythm.
One or more draws are held almost every 15 days.
The draws for three LEN Cups took place in Barcelona today. After composing the groups of the LEN Euro Cup for men, the Drawing Ceremony for the LEN Champions League and LEN Euro Cup for ladies were conducted in Barcelona.
LEN Women’s Champions League
Sixteen teams will play in the LEN Champions League. Orizzonte, Sabadell, Eger, and Olympiacos advanced to the CHL directly as the champions of the top 4 countries in the LEN Rankings. The other teams arrived from the qualifications.
Sabadell, the 2023 Champions League winner, will play against two debutants, Mulhouse (France) and Alimos (Greece) and Dunaujvaros, which won the 2014 LEN Euro Cup (LEN Trophy at that time).
Olympiacos, the European champion in 2021 and 2022, will have demanding tasks, as its rivals will be Vouliagmeni, the second-best Greek club, UVSE Budapest (the 2023 LEN Euro Cup winner) and Spanish Mediterrani.
Only the group winners will advance to the Final Four (April 20 – 21).
Group A: Orizzonte Catania (Italy), Sant Andreu (Spain), SIS Roma (Italy), Terrassa (Spain),
Group B: Sabadell (Spain), Mulhouse WP (France), Alimos (Greece), Dunaujvaros (Hungary).
Group C: Eger (Hungary), Mataro (Spain), Ethnikos Piraeus (Greece), Ferencvaros (Hungary),
Group D: Olympiacos Piraeus (Greece), UVSE Budapest (Hungary), Vouliagmeni (Greece), Mediterrani (Spain),
The group phase starts on October 7 and ends on March 23 with the matches of the 6th round.
Women’s Euro Cup
The clubs that failed to reach the Champions League through the qualifications will play in the LEN Euro Cup.
Two teams from Italy and France and one from Greece, the Netherlands, Hungary and Germany will battle for the trophy.
The top two teams from each group will play at the Final Four (April 13-14).
Group A: Lille UC (France), Glyfada (Greece), Plebiscito Padova (Italy), ZV De Zaan (Netherlands),
Group B: BVSC (Hungary), Trieste (Italy), Spandau 04 Berlin (Germany), Grand Nancy (France).
The first round is scheduled for October 7. The last, 6th round is on March 23.
