As we promised last week, Total Waterpolo publishes a summary of the talks in the Italian TV show “Controfuga”, that is on air every Wednesday at 21.30 CET, and it can be followed on Facebook Pages – Controfuga and Waterpolo People.
A very lively episode of “Controfuga” was aired on Wednesday night, in which Matteo Aicardi, Aleksandra Cotti, Gianni De Magistris, and Tamas Marcz took part.
De Magistris immediately stressed the image crisis of water polo:
“In my days, people stopped us on the street to ask us for an autograph, the popularity of water polo was higher than of other sports that have surpassed us today. Ask why, whose responsibilities are “.
In this regard, the intervention of Matteo Aicardi is interesting:
“If we were to analyze the things to improve water polo, we would have to do three to four episodes in a row of Controfuga. I don’t want to be controversial, but in the last two years, only a few male A1 clubs have invested: Pro Recco, Sport Management, and Brescia. Unfortunately, we are not very attractive from the television point of view and, consequently, for the sponsors. A company that puts money in water polo when there are five people in the pool, which can never return “We have to reset, the Italian Federation should invest in people trained in sports marketing. It’s not that it takes long. We have only to copy from the sports that are ahead of us.”
Subsequent interventions revealed another irrefutable fact: in water polo, we play too much and invest little or nothing in marketing and communication.
Tamas Marcz on Varga’s injury
Hungary’s head coach Tamas Marcz talked about Denes Varga’s injury:
“I’m confident. I have read Madaras’ public statements in which he says that Denes will resume training normally in two or three months, and that, perhaps, in four months he could already play. These are the predictions. It is certainly a serious injury, maybe he will miss the Hungarian cup, but I think that in August when the Championships will be resumed, he could be there”.
