The mid-week water polo action in Croatia consisted of three matches from three different rounds. Favorites – Jug, Jadran Split and Mladost collected the points with ease.

2022/23 Croatian League

Day 2

Solaris – Jug 3:11 (0:1, 1:5, 1:4, 1:1)
Solaris: D.Butic 2, Burburan 1.
Jug AO: Jokovic 3, Fatovic 2, Burdjelez 1, Vukojevic 1, Lazic 1, Krzic 1, Kakaris 1, Grgurevic 1.

Day 3

Mladost – POSK 17:3 (4:1, 5:0, 3:1, 5:1)
Mladost: Mijic 3, Dadvani 2, Gluhaic 2, Jelaca 2, Adeishvili 2, Fabris 2, Rakovac 1,Vrbnjak 1, Elez 1, Busic 1.
POSK: Cubelic 1, Gadza 1, Carev 1.

Day 4

Jadran S – Zadar 1952 17:4 (6:2, 3:1, 5:1, 3:0)
Jadran S: Tomasovic 4, Pavlovic 2, Cuzzi 2, Delic 1, Zilic 1, Duzevic 1, Cagalj 1, Z.Butic 1, Pejkovic 1, Smodlaka 1, Galic 1 , Dodoja 1.
Zadar 1952: Jurisic 1, Martinovic 1, Cacic 1, Dondjevic 1.

Jug beat Solaris easier than expected. The reigning champion played excellently in defense. The visitors kept Solaris goalless until the 12th minute (1:4), and played well enough in attack to record a comfortable victory. The most experienced player Maro Jokovic was the best scorer with three goals.

Mladost, which wasn’t successful in the LEN Euro Cup Round 2 last week, was too strong for POSK. The Zagreb-based side dictated the pace throughout the match and demolished the visitors from Split.

As things stand now, Croatia will probably be represented by two clubs in the Champions League. Jug is a wild card holder. It’s most likely that Jadran Split will qualify for the Main Round. After a 9:3 victory over Oradea in the first leg of the playoffs of the Champions League qualifications, Jadran hosted Zadar in the match of the fourth round. This match was played earlier, because Jadran will play against Oradea in the return match on Saturday.

The hosts played without several experienced players (Dobud, Marinic Krgic, Bukic, Marcelic, etc). However, a rejuvenated side from Split blew Zadar away . All field players of Jadran got on the scoreboard.

1.Jadran 3 – 9
2. Mladost 3 – 9
3. Primorje 3 – 9
4. Jug AO 2 – 6
5. Mornar 3 – 3
6. Solaris 2 – 3
7. Medvescak 3 – 3
8. POSK 3 – 0
9. KPK 3 – 0
10. Zadar 3 – 0
