OSC faced Miskolc, the runner-up in the 2018/19 Hungarian Cup. Miskolc lost to Ferencvaros 4:10 in the last year’s final.

OSC rushed to a 5:1 lead, but Miskolc was able to come back and to cut the deficit (4:5) deep into the second quarter. During the third period, OSC built a 4-goal advantage (8:4 and 9:5), which proved vital for their win.

All in all, the semifinals saw expected outcomes, and the Budapest-based teams advanced to the final game.

Final, 8 December

Ferencvaros – OSC 8:7 (2:3, 1:2, 2:1, 3:1)

Ferencvaros needed less than three minutes to gain a 2:0 lead. But, after that, OSC kept Ferencvaros goalless for 11:30 minutes! OSC’s goalkeeper Branislav Mitrovic was outstanding, while his teammates did their job in the attack and OSC turned around a 0:2 deficit to a 5:2 lead.

Pohl broke Ferencvaros’s silence in the 15th minute for 3:5. Jaksic and Varga continued the series and the European champion equalized in the middle of the third period – 5:5. Drasko Brguljan converted a man-up to put OSC ahead once more – 6:5 before the final quarter.

After two and a half minutes of play in the fourth period, Nikola Jaksic scored his 3rd goal in the game to level the score – 6:6. Nemanja Ubovic hit the back of the net in the 27th minute, and OSC went in front again. But, Ferencvaros responded strongly, with two goals in 49 seconds (Constantin-Bicari and Varga) to gain an 8:7 lead. It was Fradi’s first lead in the match after the opening 2:0. In the remaining two and a half minutes, there were no goals, and Ferencvaros celebrated a minimal and essential win – 8:7.

Ferencvaros clinched its 19th Hungarian Cup, while OSC still has only two trophies from this competition in its treasury.

With this win, Ferencvaros continued to dominate. The best Hungarian club at the moment is the current European champion, current Hungarian champion and the Cup winner, while it recently successfully defended the trophy in the LEN Super Cup.
