The quarterfinal matches of the Hungarian Cup were played this weekend (25 and 26 October).
Ferencvaros, the winner in the previous season, Szolnok, Miskolc and OSC reached the semifinals. The Final Four will be held in December (7 – 8).

Szolnok vs Eger

After a lot of twists and turns, the first encounter between Szolnok and Eger played in Szolnok, ended with no winner. Three minutes before the end, Eger had an 11:9 lead, but Gavril Subotic and Bence Batori brought the match to 11:11 and nobody had an advantage before the return leg.
Today, Szolnok opened the match in Eger with a 4:0 blast, which determined the rest of the battle. Eger managed to narrow the gap a few times, but Szolnok’s advantage was never smaller than two goals. The visitors jumped to a 10:6 lead four minutes from the end and there was no way back for Eger. The hosts stopped Radomir Drasovic, who was one of Szolnok’s heroes in yesterday’s match (5 goals), but it wasn’t enough.
Ferencvaros vs UVSE

European and Hungarian champion Ferencvaros had no problems in the quarterfinals. It demolished UVSE in both games.

PVSK water polo players fought hard in the 1st match against Miskolc in Pecs. But, they ran out of gas for today’s return leg in Miskolc. The hosts demolished PVSK today – 19:9.
