Hungary’s big four leading the way – All the action from Matchday 3 in the OB I

October 30, 2021

The field is starting to split in Hungary’s OB I, but the league’s ‘big four’ – UVSE, Dunaujvaros, BVSC & Ferencvaros all remain undefeated.

Results

Dunaujvaros 17-10 ZF Eger (5-1, 3-2, 4-2, 5-5)

Dunaujvaros: L. Maczko, D. Szilagyi 1, N. Sajben 1, G. Gurisatti 6, B. Horvath 1, G. Mahieu 1, N. Szabo 1, K. Garda 1, A. Mucsy 3, L. Somogyvari, R. Pal, C. Szellak 1, N. Sumegi 1, S. Buis

Eger: A. Kiss, E. Weston, K. Menczinger 4, L. Dobi Dorina 1, D. Molnar, Z. Katona, R. Parkanyi, D. Czigany 5, Z. Galicz, A. Keresztes, I. Borsi, K. Bodi Fruzsina, S. Szilagyi, D. Turi

Dunaujvaros continued their good league start with a solid victory over Eger on Friday night. Nearly all of the DFVE side scored, notably Greta Gurisatti, who scored an impressive 6 goals, while Anna Mandula Mucsy secured a deserved hat-trick.

The win keeps Dunaujvaros top of the league, while Eger still remain without a win this season. Jozef Sike’s side face UVSE next weekend, while Dunaujvaros contemplate an away trip to Keruleti.

UVSE 18-5 Szeged (5-3, 3-1, 5-0, 5-1)

UVSE: A. Magyari, T. Aubeli 1, D. Abel-Antal 2, L. Forgacs, G. Szucs 1, R. Keszthelyi 6, R. Irmes 1, N. Golopencza, P. Szegedi 4, N. Rybanska, R. Radli, K. Peresztegi Nagy 1, K. Hajdu 2, S. Golopencza

Szeged: B. Gyongyosi, K. Szabo 1, R. Miklos 2, K. Jenei, S. Tatrai 1, L. Raski, M. Pap, R. Bicskei, Z. Armai 1, R. Korom, Z. Botka

Another huge goal haul from Rita Keszthelyi (6) helped UVSE keep pace with DFVE at the top of the OB I. While Szeged were close on the scoreboard at half-time, a second half onslaught from UVSE sealed the points.

Szeged have lost three out of three and have had a tough run of games so far, but their next two are certainly must wins – they first play Tatabanya at home, before travelling to fellow strugglers Gyor.

Ferencvaros 19- 3 Keruleti TVE (4-5, 5-2, 5-1, 5-0)

Ferencvaros: O. Cseho-Kovacsne, P. Petik, M. Zsuzsanna 3, M. Regos 1, L. Nagy 1, V. Kovesdi 4, M. Koopman 1, A. Illes, S. Kuna 3, E. Varro 3, D. Toth 1, D. Domsodi 2, S. Felkai

Keruleti: K. Papai, B. Konda, K. Kenez, H. Koncz, V. Kiss 1, J. Illes, C. Palasti, P. Kudella 2, K. Kovacs, L. Papp Kinga, K. Gasparics, N. Koltay, L. Dulic

Ferencvaros are up to third after dismantling Keruleti at FTC Uzoda. Vivian Kovesdi led the way for Fradi with 4 goals as Zsuzsanna Mate, Szonja Kuna and Eszter Varro all bagged hat-tricks. FTC take on Szentes in their next fixture, while Keruleti are rock bottom of the league, and next their fixture against Dunaujvaros probably won’t be the match they’ll get their first points of the season.

BVSC 14 – 5 Szentes (4-1, 2-2, 4-0, 4-2)

BVSC: F. Pecz, F. Fekete 2, K. Meszaros Farkas 2, D. Alaksza, A. Krenusz 1, T. Farkas 1, K. Hnatyszyn, D. Leimeter 1, Z. Polak 1, N. Kele, N. Alaksza, A. Gemes 4, C. Dobos, Z. Hajdu

Szentes: R. Aranyi, V. Varga 2, A. Hevesi, G. Macsai, V. Dankina, T. Kolarova 1, N. de Vries, I. Mihaly-Kadar 1, V. Bonca, M. Csiszar, R. Kover-Kis 1, F. Toth, R. Boldizsar, J. Futsi

BVSC were clinical in dispatching Szentes in a fairly convincing display in front of a home crowd. The damage was done in the third quarter for the hosts as Kata Meszaros Farkas and Anett Alexa Gemes both racked up four goals.

The win for Vanda Meszaros’s side takes them fourth, and keeps them undefeated. Szentes, on the other hand, begin a really tough run of fixtures, where they face Ferencvaros, UVSE and Dunaujvaros as their next three games.

Next up for BVSC is Gyor – a game they are heavily expected to win.

GVSE Gyor 8-13 Tatabanya (2-3, 2-2, 1-7, 3-1)

Gyor: E. Kiss, A. Farkas, L. Frater, B. Baksa, J. Vaszari 1, D. Torok 2, V. Nemeth, V. Huszti 1, D. Huszti 2, P. Kovacs 2, Z. Finta, I. Droth, K. Kurucz, E. Torma

Tatabanya: I. Zirighne, H. Zantleitner, N. Zantleitner 3, P. Zink 4, B. Orban, T. Zold, K. Hollosi, L. Soti, E. Rajna 5, E. Cser, M. Szedlak 1, B. Bozso, J. Kovacs, L. Marsi

Zsolt Vogel will be thrilled with his side’s first victory of the season over Gyor University. Eniko Rajna was the standout player in the game with five goals, while her team mate, Petra Zink, converted on four occasions. Tatabanya will hope they can take some momentum from this game into their next, against Szeged, as they look to climb up the table.

Gyor are one of four teams that are still without points, however they have a chance to gain some points at home over the next three weeks. Their next five are: BVSC (A), Szeged (H), FTC (H), Eger (H), DFVE (A).
