Pro Recco defeated Catania. For the first time this season, Aleksandar Ivovic played in the Italian Championships. Head coach Sandro Sukno decided that Ivovic would be one of four foreigners on the team in the second half of the domestic season. The Montenegrin ace replaced Luka Loncar. The other three foreigners are Aaron Younger, Ben Hallock, and Gergo Zalanki. The latter didn’t play in Catania. Di Fulvio, Presciutti, Fondelli missed the match, too. The visitors, led by Giacomo Cannella, earned a 4:0 and a 6:1 lead in the second quarter. They showed they wouldn’t let a surprise happen.

Brescia’s defense wasn’t as good as in most of the matches this season. Still, the 2nd-best Italian club recorded the biggest win of the day, beating Posillipo by ten goals (19:9). Brescia made the crucial difference in the first half (10:3). The hosts’ defense weakened in the second half, but they increased the margin to 10.

Ortigia started slowly in the match against Bogliasco. It was a high-scoring game. At halftime, Ortigia led 7:6. Ferrero doubled the visitors’ advantage at the beginning of the third quarter. Still, the hosts replied with two quick goals and leveled at 8:8 (18th minute). However, midway through the third period, Ortigia took control. The Sicilians, whose power engine was Francesco Cassia, produced a 6:0 run and jumped to a 14:8 lead (27th minute) and there was no way back for Bogliasco.

This season, the good defensive play hasn’t been Telimar’s characteristic. The Palermo-based side conceded 11 goals today, but the attack worked well, as usual. Telimar defeated Anzio 17:11. Telimar earned a 6:3 advantage in the first 16 minutes. Anzio attempted to come back. It reduced the gap to two in the third quarter three times. However, Telimar stretched the margin to four with two goals in the 24th minute (10:6). The fourth period produced 12 goals, but Telimar’s victory wasn’t in danger.

Savona was too strong for De Akker Bologna. The visitors kept the momentum gained in an 8:5 victory over Tourcoing in the LEN Euro Cup. Savona earned an early 4:1 lead. At the beginning of the second quarter, De Akker cut the deficit to one goal (3:4). But after that, Savona netted six straight goals. Midway through the third period the visitors had a 10:3 advantage and secured the victory.

Trieste struggled, but it managed to beat Salerno. The visitors earned a two-goal lead early in the third quarter (6:4). Trieste responded with a 3:0 rush to gain a 7:6 advantage. Before the final period, Trieste led 8:7. The hosts opened the fourth quarter with a goal (9:7) and didn’t let Salerno come back.

Roma started excellently in Genoa against Quinto. The visitors had a 3:0 and a 4:1 lead in the second quarter. At the middle break, two goals separated the rivals (Roma had a 5:3 advantage). But the second half was completely different. After the middle break, Quinto netted five goals in a row and went to 8:5 (26th minute). The hosts maintained the difference in the remaining time.
