The derby of the round 3 was an encounter between two national champions. Jug Dubrovnik, the champion of Croatia, hosted Jadran Herceg Novi (Montenegro). The visitors had a nice start and they were leading 2:0 after the 1st quarter. It took almost 14 minutes until the home team found its rhythm and back of the net. Papanastasiou converted a man-up for 1:2. Obradovic and Merkulov scored early in the third quarter to put Jug 3:2 ahead. In the middle of the third quarter, Cagalj ended Jadran’s scoreless period which lasted 11:50 minutes and equalised – 3:3. But, Jug earned a 5:3 advantage by the end of this quarter.

Jadran’s Djuro Radovic opened the scoring in the fourth period and the visitors cut the deficit to 4:5. However, Jug netted three goals in less than two minutes and jumped to an 8:4 lead which was decisive for the outcome. The Montenegrins couldn’t come back.

Jadran will have a chance to take revenge next week. On Tuesday, these two teams will face off in the 1st round of the Champions League. The match will be played in Herceg Novi.

Sabac, the champion of Serbia, visited Belgrade to face Partizan. Sabac was leading for most of the time, but the young team of Partizan didn’t let the visitors build a big gap. The difference between the sides was never larger than two goals. Before the final quarter, the score was 8:8. Djordje Vucinic, Partizan’s former player, gave Sabac a new lead 9:8 in the 26th minute. But, the Belgrade-based team kept the visitors scoreless in the remaining time, while the hosts netted 3 goals for an 11:9 win.

Mladost Zagreb, the current champion, had no mercy today. Mladost hosted Crvena Zvezda. The home team opened the match with a 5:0 rush, while it earned an 8:1 lead quickly after the middle break and there was no way back for the visitors.

The encounter between Jadran Split and Primorac turned into a scoring festival. After a pretty balanced first period (Jadran led 5:4), the Split-based side took control and quickly earned a 6-goal lead (11:6). Early in the fourth period, Jadran extended its advantage to seven goals (17:10). After that, the hosts let the Montenegrins reduce the gap.
