Jug cements top spot and hosts Final Four

Jug recorded a convincing win over Jadran Herceg Novi in the derby of the 13th round of the Regional League – 17:9 and cemented the 1st place.

So, a round before the end of the league, it’s clear that Jug will host the Final Four tournament in the pool Gruz in Dubrovnik.

Regional League 2019/20, Day 13

Group 1st-5th place

Jadran HN – Jug 9:17 (2:5, 2:3,1:5, 4:4)

Jadran Carine Herceg Novi: Averka 5, Petkovic 2, Vucurovic 1,Mijuskovic 1.
Jug AO: Lozina 5, Merkulov 4, Papanastasiou 3, Benic 2, Garcia 1, Fatovic 1, Loncar 1

Jadran S – Crvena Zvezda 18:10 (5:4, 4:3, 7:1, 2:2)

Jadran Split: Krapic 4, Butic 3, Buric 3 Delic 2, Vrdoljak 2, Setka 2, Kadmenovic 1.
Crvena Zvezda: Vukicevic 3, Radovic 2, Jankovic 3, Kasum 1, Tankosic 1.

Mladost bye

Jug took a flying start and earned a 4:0 lead in the 6th minute of the game in Herceg Novi. The hosts reduced the gap to two (3:5) early in the second period. But, quickly after that, the hosts jumped to a 7:3 lead. After Jadran’s fourth goal (4:8), Jug produced a 5:0 rush for a comfortable 12:4 advantage. Luka Lozina led Jug with five goals. Konstantin Averka netted five for Jadran.

The encounter between Jadran Split and Crvena Zvezda was an even contest until the first minute of the third quarter. Zvezda trailed just by a single goal (8:9) in the 17th minute. But, Jadran scored seven unanswered goals by the last break and built a big 16:8 lead.

In the semifinals of the Final Four, Jadran Split will face host Jug, while Mladost and Jadran Herceg Novi will battle in the second semifinal.

On Saturday, the semifinalists will meet in the last, 14th round, since Jadran Split will host Jug, and Jadran Herceg Novi travels to Zagreb.
