The Ethniki has been drawn into Group C for the World Championships (16th-30th July) alongside European rivals Italy, as well as two teams from the Southern Hemisphere, namely Argentina and South Africa.
Greek head coach Alexia Kammenou has maintained consistency in her squad selection in the hope that it will provide some much needed stability to the team. Ten players from the Greek champions Olympiacos form a significant part of the team.
Although Greece’s last World Championships victory was in 2011, they have been unable to reach the podium in any of the past five tournaments. Nevertheless, they have a promising chance of emerging as the top team in their group this time around.
