Szolnok defeated Vasas in the derby of the Hungarian League Round 17. Literally, a last-second goal decided the winner. A second before the buzzer Szolnok water polo players earned a man-up, and they converted it to a 9:8 victory.
The Budapest derby between Honved and BVSC was also exciting and ended with no winner β 10:10.

The match in Szolnok was a duel between best men. Head coaches Zivko Gocic (Szolnok) and Slobodan Nikic, who extended the contract with Vasas until 2024 a few days ago, are best men to each other. In the first half of the regular season, Vasas recorded a 9:5 victory over Szolnok. Today, Gocic took revenge for that defeat.
It was a game with a lot of twists and turns. Two minutes before the middle break, Vasas had a 5:4 advantage. After that, Szolnok scored four straight goals and jumped to an 8:5 lead (19th minute). Then, Vasas tightened its defense and started coming back step-by-step. Montenegroβs captain Drasko Brguljan leveled at 8:8 with 01:40 minutes to go. In the following minutes, both teams missed chances. Szolnok had a last possession in the match. Just a second before the end, Szolnok earned a man-up. Zovic passed the ball to Jansik, who found the net in the last second of the match. He ended Szolnokβs goalless phase that lasted for 13:42 minutes and secured the win for the hosts.
BVSC led for most of the time f the match against Honved. At halftime, the visitors were 7:4 up. Early in the fourth, BVSC had an 8:5 advantage. Shortly before the last break, Honved cut the deficit to one goal (8:9). The hosts leveled in the middle of the fourth quarter (Ekler for 9:9). In the 30th minute, Kevi Bendeguz converted a man-up to give Honved a 10:9 lead. Immediately after, BVSCβs Miklos Csapo responded in the same manner. He scored from a 6 on 5 for 10:10. There were no goals in the last 02:23 minutes and the game ended with no winner.
Other matches offered less excitement. Ferencvaros and OSC recorded convincing away victories. Szeged beat PVSK in Pecs. Kaposvar trashed Szentes.
