Major water polo transfers 2020 – Summary 3

July 31, 2020

Photo : lalex.k/Total Waterpolo

There were no many transfers news in Italian and Hungarian water polo during July. Most of the best Italian, Hungarian, French, Spanish clubs composed their teams for the new season.

Greece was in the spotlight of the transfer market in July. The season was completed early in July, and after the end of the league, the series of arrivals and departures has started.

Greece

Olympiacos won its 34th title of the Greek champion, but after this success, many of the key players left the club. Three of the four foreigners (Maro Jokovic, Ivan Buljubasic, and Stefan Zivojinovic) had signed the contracts with new clubs in June, while Stefan Mitrovic departed Olympiacos after the end of the league. But, he didn’t move far away from Piraeus, since he will continue his career in Apollon Smyrnis, which is also based in Athens. Emmanouil Mylonakis also didn’t sign a new contract with Olympiacos and joined Vouliagmeni.

Until today, Olympiacos announced that it had brought two players – Marios Kapotsis andThanasis Chrysospathis, who return to Greece from foreign clubs.

In recent years, Olympiacos dominated the Greek League, but the battle for the trophies in the next season will see more contenders. Apollon Smyrnis builds a strong team. After Stefan Mitrovic, a few experienced players arrived in the club, including an American Alex Bowen.

Besides Mylonakis, Vouliagmeni brought Croatian center-forward Luka Lozina and two excellent young Greeks – Alafragkis and Troulos.

AEK Athens, the newcomer to the A1 League wants to play an important role in the competitions. New names in AEK are two experienced players Nikola Radjen and Nikola Vukcevic.

The only interesting information that has come in July was that Mark Kallay didn’t leave Ferencvaros. The club decided to renew the contract, with Kallay, because the European and Hungarian champion entered the season with several injured players, and it needs more names on the roster.

Primorac’s new management (led by president Mladjan Janovic and sporting director Antonio Petkovic) appointed a new coach, as one of its first moves.
