Mladost takes first ticket for second round; Montenegrins follow Croats

September 30, 2022

After only two days of the tournaments of the Champions League Qualification Round 1, a few clubs have already secured their tickets for the second round.

To remind, three clubs from groups with five teams will qualify, while two from the only group with four teams (Group B) will go through.

Mladost recorded three wins in the first three rounds of the group in Herceg Novi and became the first team to qualify for Round 2. Jadran Herceg Novi, the host of the tournament, secured itself a spot in the next round an hour and a half after Mladost.

Only a series of miracles can prevent Primorac, Panionios, and Tourcoing from qualifying.

Day 2, evening session – Group A: Vasas – Invictum 37:2, ZPC Het Ravijn – Primorac 7:16. Group B: Savona – Galatasaray 10:6, Oradea – ASA Tel Aviv 12:3, Group C: Mladost – Novaky 16:3, Jadran HN – ENKA 19:8. Group D: KVIK Kastrup – Vitoria 6:11, Banja Luka – Panionios 2:42.

report of today’s morning session – HERE

Primorac Kotor: Draskovic 3, F.Gardasevic 2, Stanojevic 2, Milic 2, Bastrica 2, Gopcevic 2, Crepulja 1, Vujosevic 1, Macic 1.

Steaua bye.

Vasas, which aims to arrive at the CHL Preliminary Stage, opened its campaign with a match that looked like a shooting training. A 20-year-old Gabor Lorinc contributed to the win with eight goals.
Host ZPC Ravijn played very well for almost three quarters of the game against Primorac. The Dutch led 3:2. Primorac responded with three goals and went to 5:3. The hosts halved the deficit twice (4:5, 5:6). Six seconds before the last break, only two goals separated the rivals (Primorac led 8:6). Marko Milic converted a man up at 0:06 to give Primorac a 9:6 lead. The Montenegrins dominated the final period and posted the second win in the tournament.

Standings: 1. Primorac 6 (2), 2. Vasas 3 (1), 3. Steaua 3 (1), 4. ZPC Het Ravijn 0 (2), 5. Invictum 0 (2)

Group B (Oradea), Round 1

Savona – Galatasaray 10:6 (2:1, 2:2, 4:3, 2:0)
Savona: Campopiano 3, Guidi 2, Djurdjic 2, Rizzo 2, Bruni 1.
Galatasaray:Colak 1, Gulenc 1, Destici 1, Senemogly 1, Krstic 1, Acar 1

Oradea – ASA Tel Aviv 12:3 (2:0, 4:1, 5:0, 1:2)
Oradea: Negrean 4, Gheorghe 3, Asanovic 1, Szabo 1, Popoviciu 1, Colodrovschi 1, Vancsik 1.
ASA Tel Aviv: Schlein 2, Zonanstern 1.

Savona, the favorite in Group B, collected three points, but Galatasaray was a tough opponent to the third team in the 2022 Italian League.

Galatasaray and Savona fought a balanced battle for almost three quarters. Savona led for most of the time, but Galatasaray equalized at 1:1, 5:5, 6:6. The Turks scored their 6th goal in the 22nd minute. However, they couldn’t find the net in the remaining time, and Savona produced a 4:0 run for a 10:6 victory.

Host Oradea made a first step towards the second round with a convincing win over ASA Tel Aviv. But, since only two teams from this group will qualify for Round 2, a long way is still ahead of the Romanians .

Standings: 1. Oradea 3, 2. Savona 3, 3. Galatasaray 0, 4. ASA 0.

Group C (Herceg Novi), Round 3

Mladost – KVP Novaky 16:3 (2:0, 5:1, 5:1, 4:1)
Mladost: Adeishvili 3, Rakovac 3, Mijic 3, Dadvani 2, Gluhaic 2, Fabris 2, Mihaljevic 1.
KVP Novaky: Tisaj 2, Baco 1.

Jadran HN – Enka 19:8 (4:2, 6:4, 2:2, 7:0)
Jadran HN: Khalturin 5, Caraj 4, Da. Radovic 3, M.Gardasevic 3, Muscat 2, Zizudin 1, Stevovic 1
ENKA: Obradovic 3, Ergin 2, Duzenli 2, Albayrak 1.

Mladost achieved its first goal in Herceg Novi. It recorded three wins and mathematically qualified for the next round. The Croats were too strong for the Nordic League winners. Dario Rakovac and two newcomers, Sandro Adeishvili and David Mijic, were the best scorers. Each found the net three times.

Jadran Herceg Novi needed a win over Enka to join Mladost in the next round. After victories over ENKA and Zaibas, Jadran secured at least third place. The hosts had small ups and downs throughout the match, but they were always in front and demolished ENKA in the last quarter. Russian Pavel Khalturin, who joined Jadran this summer, led the attack with five goals.

It’s almost certain that the derby Jadran – Mladost will be decisive for 1st place, while the other three clubs still have chances to reach 3rd place and qualify for Round 2.

Standings: 1. Mladost 9 (3), 2. Jadran 6 (2), 3. Novaky 1 (2), 4. ENKA 1 (3), 5. Zaibas 0 (3).

Group D (Muscron), Round 3

KVIK Kastrup – Vitoria 6:11 (1:4, 0:3, 3:2, 2:2)

KVIK:  Koska 3, Varga 1, Lange 1, Nozadze 1.
Vitoria: Sobetchi 2, Ferreira Sousa 2, Lopes 2, Mendes 2, Ferreira 1, Oliveira 1, Costa 1.

Banja Luka – Panionios 2:42 (1:11, 1:11, 0:10, 0:10)

Banja Luka: Ganic 1, N.Dardic.
Panionios: Bitadze 10, Gounas 10, Kalaitzis 6, Papakos 5, Spooner 4, Ntalapas 2, Kopelaidis 2, Bouzalas 2, Kapetanikis 1.

Tourcoing bye

Vitoria Guimaraes recovered from the last evening’s loss to Tourcoing (5:28) and recorded a nice win over KVIK Kastrup. The Portuguese played excellently in defense in the first half, and that was crucial for the outcome. As things stand now and considering previous results, Vitoria will probably qualify for the next round, along with favorites Tourcoing and Panionios.

This morning, Panionios beat KVIK 34:2, while Banja Luka lost to Tourcoing 2:41. The Greeks improved the French’s today’s scoring record, beating Banja Luka 42:2. It’s really rarity that two players from the same team score 10 goals each in one match. This evening, Andria Bitadze and Alexandros Gounas demolished Banja Luka, combining 20 goals.

Standings: 1.Panionios 6 (2), 2. Tourcoing 6 (2), 3. Vitoria Guimaraes 3 (2), 4. KVIK Kastrup 3 (3), 5. Banja Luka 0 (3).
