Apart from the draw for the qualifications for the 2024 European Championships, the draws for all age-group continental championships will be held on Saturday in Sabadell.
European U17 and U15 Championships will be played this summer in Croatia, Montenegro and Turkey. The new competition formula will be introduced.
In accordance with the changes that World Aquatics made in the format of their World U20 Championships, the group stage at the four European age-group Championships will be divided into two, informally called, divisions. The teams ranked 1st-8th at the previous championships for the same age group will be in a higher and the others in the second division.
The eight teams in a higher division will be split into two groups (A and B). The top two teams from each group will qualify directly for the quarterfinals.
The remaining eight teams will also be split into two groups (C and D) and play a round-robin tournament.
The teams ranked 1st in groups C and D will play cross-over matches against the fourth-placed teams from Groups A and B, while the second-ranked teams from C and D will face the third-placed teams from Groups A and B. The winners of these crossover matches will progress to the quarter-finals.
There were no qualifications for the U15 Championships. It was open to all teams. Many nations showed their interest in playing in this tournament. There will be 25 participating teams. Therefore, the boys’ U15 Championships competition formula is slightly different. The teams in the 2nd division will be divided into four groups (C, D, E,, F). From the quarterfinals, the format will be the same as for all the remaining three tournaments.
