Vasas and Steaua faced off for the second time in the 2022/23 Champions League Qualifications. Two weeks ago, Vasas beat the Romanians 10:3 in the group in Nijverdal. The Hungarians’ defense didn’t work well today, but the Budapest-based side secured a solid lead in time. After a balanced first quarter, Vasas built a 4-goal lead in the third period (10:6). The Romanians halved the deficit a few times in the third quarter (8:10, 9:11, 10:12). But, Vasas earned a 5-goal advantage, with three straight goals at the finish of the third and the beginning of the fourth quarter, went to 15:10, which was crucial for the outcome.

Both teams had ups and downs in the game Savona – Sabac. Still, the Italians had stronger nerves and were more concentrated in crucial moments. Midway through the second period, Savona was three goals ahead of Sabac (5:2). But, the Serbs tightened their defense and started coming back. They leveled at 5:5 in the 19th minute. Still, they didn’t stop. Shortly after, they netted two power-play goals and gained a 7:5 lead. Lorenzo Bruni ended Savona’s goalless phase that lasted for more than eight minutes. He converted two man-ups in 50 seconds and leveled at 7:7.
Early in the fourth, Markovic gave Sabac an 8:7 lead, but Savona scored the last three goals in the game and took three points. Interestingly, only one of the ten goals in the second half was an action goal. The other nine were scored with a man-up.

Noisy-le-Sec, which had a day off yesterday, opened its Champions League campaign with a hard-fought win. The game was an even contest, but Jadran led for most of the time in the first three periods while the Parisians were chasing the rival. However, two goals separated the rivals only twice (Jadran led 5:3 and 7:5). In the first three quarters, Noisy leveled eight times (1:1, 2:2,3:3, 5:5,7:7, 8:8, 9:9, 10:10), but wasn’t able to take the lead.
But, after the last break, the game went in a completely different direction. Noisy-le-Sec scored four goals in a row and earned a 14:10 advantage, and didn’t let Jadran come back. The Montenegrins scored just two consolation goals in the last two minutes.

Noisy’s power engine was Antonio Petkovic, who scored six goals.

Oradea opened the match against Vitoria with an 8:0 blast and cruised to the victory.

Standings: 1.Barcelona 3 (1), 2. Noisy 3 (1), 3. Jadran 3 (2), 3. Oradea 3 (2), 5. Vitoria 0 (2)

Mladost kept up with favorite Brescia for more than two quarters. Moreover, the Croats led in the opening minutes (1:0, 2:1), but Brescia turned around a slim deficit to a 5:3 lead by the middle break. However, Mladost didn’t surrender. The Zagreb-based side leveled at 5:5. But, Brescia retook control and scored five unanswered goals in five minutes and jumped to 10:5. After that, Mladost couldn’t come back.

An encounter between EVK Zaibas and ASC Duisburg offered a lot of twists and turns. At halftime, ASC led 9:8, but Zaibas was a far better rival in the third period and entered the final quarter with a 13:10 advantage, and extended its lead to 14:10 in the first possession in the fourth quarter. But, a new turn was yet to come. The Germans scored five unanswered goals to go ahead – 15:14 (30th minute). Still, the Lithuanians responded with a 3:0 series and recorded the win.
