OSC Won The Clash of Titans, Eger Keeps on Climbing – Hungarian Water Polo

February 10, 2019

The 12th round brought most exciting matches so far, including the clash of the Titans. OSC left the pool victorious, but only by one goal.

Group A

Only a short time parted Eger’s high-scoring match against Crvena Zvezda in the Champions League, and they used the momentum to crush Racionet. Adding to the 17 goals they’ve scored against Zvezda, there were 10 more against Racionet yesterday. Though the match starter roughly for them, with Attila Decker stopping all the shots, Eger turned the tables and Vlachopoulos Angelos started scoring along with Gyárfás Tamás and Hosnyánszky Norbert. The end was close, but the third quarter sealed it for Eger.

BVSC played one of the toughest games of this season, although they made Ferncvarosi sweat during the second and third quarter. There was an overall chance for BVSC as the air was filled with tensions. All until the last quarter where Ferencvarosi complete dominated the pool, showing everyone just why are they the unbeaten king of the group.

Szentesi had a slow and secure win against KSI (10:7). PVSK won a huge, 11-goals-lead game against Avus for 18:7.

Group B

The 12th round saw a streak of on-pins-and-needles games in Group B, especially with the Titans – OSC and Szolnoki – fighting for the top. The match began with Manhercz Krisztián (who settled with 5 scored goals in the end) but was put to test against Viktor Nagy. On the other side of the pool, Zalánki Gergő and Andrija Prlainovic scored two each, though it ultimately wasn’t enough for Szolnoki to win this game.

The first part of the game was clearly dominated by OSC, followed by two equalizers in the second and third. In the fourth, Szolnoki woke up, scoring two goals against OSC’s zero, but it wasn’t enough for them. For now, Szolnoki has to settle with the Champions Leagues win against HAVK Mladost.

József Berta and his Kapsovari surprised the audience with a clean victory. 15:12 against Vasas got them their first victory in the group. Meanwhile, Tibor Benedek’s team hosted a game in Komyad pool. Tatabanya played a close match against them, resembling the Titan’s game with 8:7. Ultimately, Miskolci beat Debreceni 12:8.
