A series of derbies in the Serbian League continues. Two former European and national champions, Partizan and Crvena Zvezda, clashed in the Belgrade derby in the 6th round. Partizan, the visiting team, edged out Crvena Zvezda 11:10 and beat its big rival for the first time after more than three years.
Favorites made no mistake in the Croatian League.

Crvena Zvezda and Partizan suffered losses in the derby games of the 5th round last week. Radnicki beat Crvena Zvezda 10:8, while Partizan suffered a painful defeat to Novi Beograd (6:20). However, Partizan managed to recover from that and recorded the win in a game with twists and turns.
Partizan and took an early 2:0 lead. Crvena Zvezda responded with a 6:1 series and had a 6:3 advantage at halftime. After the middle break, the visitors started coming back, while Crvena Zvezda lost one of its best players Subotic who committed his 3rd personal foul. The visitors leveled at 8:8 in the 24th minute, while they went in front (9:8) in the opening minute of the fourth period. Crvena Zvezda equalized twice after that (9:9 and 10:10). Just 41 seconds before the end, Partizan forced a penalty shot. Olympic champion Stefan Mitrovic took responsibility and sent the ball into the net for the final score – 10:11. Crvena Zvezda had a man-up in its last possession but failed to score.
Partizan ended its winless series in the games against Crvena Zvezda, which lasted from May 2018, when Partizan recorded a win in the league match. In the following three years, the big rivals met several times. A few of these matches ended with no winner, while Crvena Zvezda recorded victories in the rest of the games.
Four players scored two goals for Partizan – Stefan Mitrovic, Alex Bowen, Filip Radojevic and Stefan Gak. But, the best scorer of the match was Crvena Zvezda’s Ivan Basara (5 goals).
Novi Beograd downed Valis 20:7 in its final rehearsal for a derby in the Champions League against Olympiacos. Strahinja Rasovic scored five, Drasko Gogov four goals.
Radnicki showed no mercy to Vojvodina – 21:8 with five goals from Nemanja Stanojevic, who became the best scorer in Radnicki’s history with 162 goals. He overtook French Guillaume Dino (who plays for Pays d’Aix now), who netted 157 goals as a member of the Kragujevac-based club. Nebojsa Toholj and Nikola Lukic added four each.

Mladost defeated Mornar in the most exciting game of Round 6 of the Croatian League. The title-holder built a 5:1 lead in the middle of the second quarter. However, Mornar managed to come back and equalize before the final quarter (6:6). But, Mladost retook control after the last break, and secured a three-goal win (10:7). The man of the match was Mladost’s Franko Lazic, who scored five goals. Ferdinand Josip Buselic netted three for Mornar.
The Champions League clubs Jug and Jadran Split were too strong for their rivals.
Jug recorded an away win over Primorje Rijeka. The hosts kept up with the favorite until 4:4, but Jug went to 9:6 before the middle break and dominated the second half. Marko Zuvela, Alexandros Papanastasiou and Konstantinkos Kakaris contributed to a 16:8 win with three goals each.
Jadran Split trampled KPK Korcula 24:5. All field players of Jadran found the net. Jerko Marinic Kragic and Zvonimir Butic scored four each.
