Mladost holds off Jadran in derby in Herceg Novi

The derby of the 4th round of the Regional League was an encounter between titleholder Mladost and Jadran Herceg Novi, the champion of Montenegro. But, the clash of two big rivals didn’t offer a lot of thrills, as Mladost, the visiting team, convincingly beat the Montenegrins 15:6.

Mladost took a flying start in Herceg Novi. Early in the second period, the visitors already had a 6:0 advantage. Popadic scored the first goal for Jadran (1:6), but quickly after that, Mladost, pulled by Luka Bukic, built an 8-goal margin (9:1) and there was no way back for the Montenegrins. Mladost dominated from the 1st whistle until the last buzzer and didn’t let Jadran come back.

Jug travelled to Serbia this weekend. The Dubrovnik-based side played against Sabac. The visitors, led by Loren Fatovic, earned an early 3:0 lead. Sabac cut the deficit with two goals in a span of 49 seconds (2:3), but Jug responded strongly. The visitors netted six straight goals and jumped to a 7-goal lead by the middle of the second quarter (9:2). The rest of the match was pretty balanced, Jug collected the points with a 15:7 victory.

Crvena Zvezda recorded its first win in the season. The former European champion hosted Mornar Split. The Serbs were leading throughout the match. At halftime, it was 6:2. By the end, the home team extended the margin of its win to 7 (14:7).

Jadran Split convincingly defeated Partizan. Jadran played excellently in defence and it earned a 7:2 lead midway through the second quarter. Before the third quarter, the Croats were 9:3 up. The last quarter turned into a scoring festival, both sides netted 6 goals each, but Jadran’s win was never in danger.

Primorac was better than Budva in the Montenegrin derby. At halftime, the teams were tied (4:4), while Budva went ahead after two minutes of play in the third quarter (5:4). Than Primorac started to dominate. The hosts scored five unanswered goals and jumped to a 9:5 lead in the 27th minute. That 5:0 series was decisive for the outcome. Primorac won 11:7.
