The refining of crude oil consists of chemical extraction and polymerization processes. The raw fiber then gets woven into yarns, which ultimately make up the fabrics. The result of this manufacturing process are energy use, greenhouse gas emissions and air emissions.
Recycled polyester eliminates the crude oil (conserving a precious finite resource) and refining stage. Existing plastic bottles are collected, washed, separated, chopped, ground, melted, and reformulated into recycled chips, which are then melted into fiber. Cleaning up the ocean's while preserving energy throughout the manufacturing process.
