Return to Serbia: Pijetlovic and Drasovic sign contracts with Novi Beograd

The winter transfer window hasn’t been finished yet, but some clubs started to prepare for the season 2021/22.

Novi Beograd 011, the Serbian league leader, signed contracts with two excellent players. Center-forward Dusko Pijetlovic and defender Radomir Drasovic will join Novi Beograd in a few months.

Pijetlovic and Drasovic have been playing for Szolnok since 2019. Their contracts will expire after the end of the current season. Then, they will leave Szolnok and move to Novi Beograd.

Dusko Pijetlovic, the second-best center-forward of the world in the 21st century, by our Expert jury, played for Vojvodina, Partizan, Pro Recco, Crvena Zvezda, Sintez Kazan, Dynamo Moscow, and Szolnok. He has won 28 medals at major competitions for Serbia, including Olympic gold in 2016, two titles at the World Championships (2009, 2015), etc. He won four Champions Leagues with three clubs: Partizan (2011), Pro Recco (2012 and 2015), and Crvena Zvezda (2013).

Pijetlovic confirmed signing in an interview with the Serbian daily “Sportski Zurnal”

“I have played abroad for a long time, and I want to return to Serbia, so I decided to accept Novi Beograd’s offer. This club is growing, and I like it”, Pijetlovic empshasized. He also said that Ferencvaros had contacted him, but that he wanted to return to the homeland.

Before coming to Szolnok, Radomir Drasovic played for Singidunum, Crvena Zvezda, and Sport Management. He won many medals with Serbia’s junior national teams and two World Leagues with the Serbia “A” team.

Novi Beograd really has high ambitions. Last summer, some excellent players arrived at the club, like Olympic champion Milos Cuk, Marko Avramovic, Drasko Gogov, etc. A Montenegrin Filip Gardasevic moved from Sabac to Novi Beograd a few weeks ago (he will debut for a new club in late February).

Novi Beograd’s head coach Vladimir Vujasinovic, was Pijetlovic’s teammate and captain in Partizan and the national team of Serbia, while he already coached Drasovic in Partizan a few years ago. Of course, they all have worked in the national team in the last years (Vujasinovic is Savic’s assistant).

“Our ambitions remain the same – battle for trophies and the club’s constant growing, Vujasinovic said for “Sportski Zurnal”
