We are nearly at the climax of the Women’s Euro League and we have several teams that have already secured qualification to the next round. In Group A, Dynamo and Terrassa have booked their place, while in Group B, Roma and Mediterrani are guaranteed a place in the preliminaries. In the third Group based in Berlin, Padova, Vouliagmeni and CN Mataro will progress. Sabadell and Orizzonte are definitely through in Group D, with Ethnikos very much likely to meet them.

Group A

Dynamo Uralochka have confirmed their qualification to the next round, and will finish top of the group as long as they defeat Tel Aviv by any margin tomorrow. It comes after they put in a confident performance against CSS Verona, who increasingly look like they may miss out on progressing to the next stage. All the plaudits must go to Maria Bersneva, who has been unplayable at times this week. She added another seven goals to her tally, putting her towards the top of the goal-scoring charts.

Meanwhile, Terrassa look very good for a second place finish in the group having stuffed the Israeli side, ASA Tel Aviv, by 25 goals. In a free-scoring procession for the Spaniards, it was Bea Ortiz who helped herself to most of the goals (6) while Martina Cardona and Judith Panicello both put away quads in the game.

Mediterrani made light work of Sirens as the gulf and class really showed when Medi raced to a 11-0 lead in the first quarter. Julia Cereijo did very well on her return to the Mediterrani side, scoring on 6 occasions. Helena Dalmases put 5 goals away. Clara Espar was given the night off.

Lille UC may not get out of the group, but they are in with a good shout for 4th place after a solid victory over the Dutch side ZVL. Veronika Kordonskaia and Daniela Vomastkova both secured Euro League hat-tricks.

Group C

Vouliagmeni of Greece are set for a place in the next round of the Euro League thanks to a solid 13-6 win over Olympic Nice. The contest was practically over at half-time given the Nautical Club’s 8-1 lead, however good spirit saw Nice win the second half thanks to two goals each for Estelle Millot and Aurore Sacre. The main scorers for the Greeks were Foivi Angelidi, Stefania Santa, Ioanna Chydirioti and Amy Ridge.

A victory for Mataro over BVSC all but ensures that the Spanish side progresses to the next round, while Matyas Petrovics’s side, in all likelihood, will not. Annie Espar (5) and Simone Van de Kraats (4) were both really in the mood for goals. Ultimately, the side from Budapest couldn’t really handle the quality that the Spanish league leaders had.
