Barceloneta blows away Mediterrani

The last two matches of the 1st round of the Spanish league was played yesterday evening and today. The games Barceloneta – Mediterrani and Mataro- Sant Andreu had been postponed, as Mediterrani and Mataro were playing in the LEN Euro Cup last weekend.

Spanish Championships 2019/20, Day 1

Mataro – Sant Andreu 9:8 (2:1, 2:2, 3:3, 2:2)

Quadis CN Mataro: Guimaraes 3, Yanez 2, Codina 1, Barbena 1, Corbalan 1, Fernandez 1.
Sant Andreu: Paul Garcia 4, Bustos 2, Montes 1, Garcia 1.

Barceloneta – Mediterrani 19:7 (6:0, 4:2, 2:3, 7:2)

Barceloneta: Granados 7, Bodegas 3, Fernandez 2, De Toro 2,Perrone 1, Biel 1, Bustos Sanchez 1, Munarriz 1, Larumbe 1.
Mediterrani: Garcia 3, Gorria 2, Corres 1, Minguell 1.

Real Canoe – Tenerife 10:8 (2:0, 4:1, 2:3, 2:4)

Terrassa – Barcelona 12:12 (2:4, 3:3, 3:0, 4:5)

After success in the LEN Euro Cup, Quadis Mataro faced a very hard task in the national championships. They opened the championships with a home game against Sant Andreu. The visitors didn’t surrender until the end. Deep into the third period, the score was 6:6. By the middle of the last quarter, Mataro nailed three unanswered goals to earn a safe 9:6 lead. Sant Andreu scored two goals in the last two and a half minutes, but Mataro kept the three points.

Barceloneta, the reigning champion, had no mercy in the clash with Mediterrani. Barceloneta took an early 8:0 lead and Mediterrani couldn’t recover from that shock.
