Sport Management leaves Savona empty-handed

The top two teams of the Italian Serie A –Pro Recco, Brescia – collected the points with ease in the 13th round of the national championship, while Sport Management, which was in 3rd place before the 13th round, suffered its third loss this season. Sport Management visited Savona and returned home empty-handed (7:9). After this loss, Sport Management fell to 4th place, behind Ortigia.

Savona produced the surprise of the day by defeating Sport Management. The visitors were in front after the 1st quarter (3:2). Savona equalized just four seconds before the middle break when Lorenzo Bianco found the net for 5:5. The home team added two goals in the third period for 7:5, but Sport Management came back into the game thanks to Lanzoni who converted a man-up in the last minute of this quarter (6:7). Midway through the final quarter Patchaliev doubled Savona’s advantage (8:6). Lanzoni scored for 7:8, but Vuskovic closed the match with a goal for 9:7 in the 30th minute.

Savona is still in 6th place, but it has just a point less than 5th-placed Trieste, which was convincingly beaten by Brescia (5:16).

After a loss to Pro Recco last week, Ortigia beat Posillipo in Naples – 10:6 and returned into 3rd place. Ortigia had a 5:2 advantage deep into the 3rd period. But Posillipo started climbing back and equalized in the 20th minute – 5:5. By the end of the third quarter, Ortigia produced a 3:0 rush and went 8:5 up. Posillipo couldn’t come back after that.

Pro Recco, led by Francesco di Fulvio (6 goals), Vincenzo Renzuto Iodice (5) and Dusan Mandic (4), demolished Roma 20:8.

Canottieri’s water polo players suffered a loss on home soil, as well as their local Naples-based rival Posillipo. Canotierri hosted Salerno. After the third period, the score was 9:9. Canottieri opened the fourth period and earned a lead – 10:9. However, Savona netted three straight goals in the last four minutes and recorded a 12:10 victory.

Lazio defeated Florentia easier than it was expected – 15:8. Iren Quinto was better than Telimar – 10:8.
