The big derby of Day 9 of the Hungarian League was an encounter between Szolnok and OSC. Szolnok, the home team this match, celebrated a 10:7 win.
An exciting match was played in Eger. Vasas defeated Eger (8:6) after a big comeback. UVSE was better than KSI (15:10). Titleholder Ferencvaros easily beat PVSK Pecs 14:5. Four matches are postponed.

Szolnok opened the derby with four goals in a row. In the 7th minute, Szolnok had a 4:0 advantage. But, OSC recovered from that shock quickly. The visitors equalized (5:5) 57 seconds before the middle break. But, Szolnok’s Akos Konarik found the net 20 seconds later, and the hosts had a 6:5 lead at halftime.
Szolnok coach Zivko Gocic replaced goalkeepers before the second half. An experienced goalkeeper Viktor Nagy came to the goal of Szolnok after the middle break and he did an excellent job. He blocked 7 of 9 OSC’s shots in the second half of the match. Before the final period, Szolnok earned a 2-goal lead (8:6). OSC’s Salamon netted for 7:8 in the first possession in the fourth quarter. However, Szolnok kept OSC goalless in the last 7 minutes of the match. On the other side of the pool, Daniel Angyal scored two goals and Szolnok collected the points with a 10:7 win.
Daniel Varga, OSC’s coach, shouldn’t be disappointed after the loss because his team didn’t train and play for a long time due to the coronavirus problems. This was OSC’s second match since August and the Budapest-based team played quite well considering all circumstances.
Vasas was behind for most of the match in Eger. Still, the visitors came from two goals down to record a 2-goal win. Eger got off to a better start. The hosts had a 5:3 lead early in the third quarter. After that, Vasas took control. The Budapest-based side produced 3:0 series and turned around a deficit to a 6:5 lead with 04:43 remaining on the clock. Bela Torok broke Eger’s silence, which lasted 13 minutes and equalized in the 30th minute (6:6). But, Vasas’s Viktor Vadovics scored two goals in the last 64 seconds, and the visitors collected the points (8:6).
UVSE, led by its best scorers Rolf Bencz and Vince Vigvari, defeated KSI 15:10.
Several Ferencvaros’s superstars missed the match in Pecs. But, the titleholder had no troubles in beating PVSK.
