Szolnok edged out Vasas in the big match of the 13th round of the Hungarian League.

Szolnok collected the three points with an 11:10 win. Vasas had troubles with the roster and played with a man less in the field (due to an exclusion) in four of the last five minutes. Despite these facts, the Budapest-based team was close to winning at least a point. Still, it returned home empty-handed because Matyas Pasztor scored a winner for Szolnok in the dying seconds.

The score of the game in Szolnok and other results of the 13th round caused some ups and downs in the standings. Szolnok will enter the second half of the regular season as the 3rd-placed. Vasas dropped to 5th place, behind Honved.

Ferencvaros firmly holds the top spot, keeping a perfect record. OSC is in 2nd place.

Vasas arrived in Szolnok without its first-pick goalkeeper Branislav Mitrovic. Besides Mitrovic, Akos Konarik and Tamas Mezei missed the game. However, the visitors led most of the time. Vasas had a 2-goal advantage three times (2:0 in the first quarter; 7:5 and 8:6 in the third period). However, the rhythm of the game changed at the finish of the quarter. Szolnok started dictating the pace. The hosts held the visitors goalless for a long.

Early in the fourth period, Szolnok leveled at 8:8. A new trouble for Vasas came in the 28th minute, precisely 04:53 minutes before the end. Lorand Zernivary was excluded for brutality, so Vasas had to play with a man less in the next four minutes. Gergo Kovacs converted a penalty awarded to Szolnok after that exclusion and the hosts went ahead for the first time – 9:8. Matyas Pasztor netted for 10:8 in Szolnok’s next possession (10:8). Immediately after Ivan Nagaev ended Vasas’ goalless phase that lasted almost nine minutes. The Russian added another goal in the 31st minute and leveled at 10:10.
Still, the hosts had the last laugh. Matyas Pasztor scored his fifth goal to make it 11:10 with 58 seconds left on the clock. In the final 53 seconds, Vasas had six field players, but it couldn’t equalize.

Ferencvaros ran over Eger, although it played without Denes Varga, Nemanja Ubovic, Zoltan Pohl and Soma Vogel, who still hasn’t recovered from an injury.

OSC’s defense didn’t shine in the match against last-placed KSI, but the favorite collected the points with a 6-goal victory (15:9).

Honved’s defeated Szeged 11:4. Honved’s defense was almost perfect in the first three quarters. The Budapest-based side led 10:1 before the final eight minutes. Szeged reduced the gap in the last quarter. Honved climbed to 4th place. It has the same number of points as Vasas. However, Hoved has a better goal–difference and beat Vasas in their first encounter this season (11:8)

UVSE and Szentes were in a neck-and-neck race throughout the game. The sides were tied at 8:8 with 22 seconds on the clock. However, UVSE secured a 10:8 victory with two late goals.

BVSC was the only visiting team that recorded a win in this round. It bettered PVSK 12:8. The second quarter (4:2 for BVSC) was crucial for the outcome.
