Trieste stunned Brescia in the opening minutes of the derby. The visitors played well in the defense, while they netted two goals and earned a 2:0 lead (6th minute). The hosts missed many chances. Only three seconds before the first break, Alesiani put Brescia on the scoreboard. The hosts kept the momentum and went ahead (3:2) with two quick goals at the beginning of the second quarter. But Trieste replied with two and regained a lead. In the 16th minute, Vapenski converted a man-up, so nobody had an advantage at halftime – 4:4.

The teams exchanged goals until 6:6. The last three minutes of the third quarter were crucial for Brescia’s win. The hosts produced a 3:0 run and entered the final quarter with a 9:6 lead. Trieste tried to come back. The visitors cut the deficit to one goal twice (8:9 and 9:10). Stefano Luongo put an end to the big battle with a power play goal scored 13 seconds before the end – Brescia recorded an 11:9 victory.

Telimar trailed for most of the game against Savona, but it earned a hard-fought victory. Savona led 4:2 at the first break and 5:4 at halftime. Telimar scored the first two goals in the second half and took the lead for the first time (6:5), but Savona regained a slim advantage before the final period (8:7). The fourth quarter brought new turns. The hosts netted two goals in the 25th minute and turned around a slim deficit to a 9:8 lead. Savona responded with two goals and went ahead again (10:9). Two minutes before the end, Savona led 11:10. However, then came a new mini-series of two goals by Telimar. They netted two within 43 seconds. Gilberti found the net 75 seconds from the end to set the final score – 12:11.

Pro Recco showed no mercy to Quinto in Genoa (18:4).

Ortigia recovered from a convincing 7:12 loss to Brescia in the 12th round and earned an away win over Posillipo in Naples. The Sicilians opened the match with a 2:0 lead. By the middle break, they doubled their advantage (6:2). Posillipo narrowed the margin in the second half (4:6, 6:8, 7:9), but didn’t endanger Ortigia’s victory.

Catania downed Salerno in the middle two quarters. Salerno led 2:1 in the first period. Catania made an 8:3 series in the middle two periods to earn a 9:5 advantage and didn’t let Salerno come back.

Anzio broke Bogliasco in the third quarter. The hosts chased the rival and equalized a few times. Early in the third quarter, Bogliasco leveled at 5:5. Anzio scored three unanswered goals by the end of the third quarter and added one at the beginning of the fourth quarter for a safe 9:5 lead.

De Akker was better than Roma in a game that saw big ups and downs for both teams. Still, De Akker was far better rival in the first (4:0) and the third quarter (3:0) and deserved an 8:5 win.
