Vasas defeated the LEN Euro Cup semifinalist OSC in the derby match of the 25th round of the Hungarian Championship.

Vasas, the home team in this match, recorded an 11:8 victory.

As expected, Ferencvaros bested Eger, and with new three points, climbed to 2nd place in the standings, while OSC dropped to 3rd.
Szolnok firmly holds the top of the table.

Vasas is still in fourth place. After this evening’s derby, the distance between OSC and Vasas is reduced, but it is still big – seven points.

OSC’s best scorer Krisztian Manhercz didn’t play in the derby game, because he was red-carded after the end of the encounter between OSC and Szolnok seven days ago. Still, his team started well and took an early 2:0 lead. Vasas cut the deficit before the first break (1:2), but OSC’s Toth found the net in the 9th minute, and the visitors regained a 2-goal lead. Vasas started coming back shortly after. The hosts produced a 3:0 series to go 4:3 ahead (12th minute). OSC equalized immediately. Vasas’ defense was flawless in the following several minutes. The hosts kept OSC goalless for eight minutes, while they netted five unanswered goals to earn a 9:4 advantage (20th minute). That stunning series determined the rest of the encounter. OSC couldn’t recover from a 0:5 shock. The home team’s win wasn’t in danger in the last quarter and a half.

Five rounds are remaining until the end of the regular season. Vasas, perhaps, won’t catch up with OSC, but today’s win can be vital for them to secure 4th position before the playoffs.

Szolnok convincingly beat Szeged, although it had a slow start. The hosts led 3:2 after the first quarter. But, Szolnok responded with an 8:0 series. In the 17th minute, Szolnok had a 10:4 advantage and never looked back.

Ferencvaros cruised to a win over Eger.

Honved and Miskolc also defeated their respective rivals with ease.

Debrecen, led by Peter Macsi, edged out Szentes. Debrecen opened the match with four goals in a row. The hosts earned a 4:0 lead in the 12th minute. But, Szentes managed to level the score (6:6). Debrecen answered with a 3:0 series and earned a safe 9:6 advantage midway through the fourth quarter.

KSI and PVSK shared the points. This is the second consecutive point for the last-placed KSI, after an 11:11 draw in the match against UVSE in the previous round
