Today, Vasas beat the toughest rivals in the group, Primorac, and Steaua, and cemented 1st place.
The Hungarians didn’t have an easy task in the morning session. Primorac proved that it had made progress since the last season. The Kotor-based team led in the opening minutes (1:0, 2:1). Vasas went to 4:2 at the beginning of the second quarter, but Primorac leveled at 4:4. The third quarter made the difference. Vasas entered the final period with an 11:7 advantage and Primorac couldn’t come back. The Montenegrins halved the deficit twice (9:11 and 10:12), but nothing more than that.

An excellent defense led Vasas to a victory over Steaua. The Hungarians kept the Bucharest-based team goalless for more than two quarters. Steaua got on the scoreboard only in the 18th minute, with an extra player (1:6). By the end of the third period, Vasas built an 8-goal lead and relaxed in the last eight minutes.

Host ZPC HET Ravijn collected first points with an easy win over Invictum. However, this win won’t help the Dutch qualify for Round 2. Ravijn will play against Vasas tomorrow. The hosts won’t climb into 3rd place even if they surprise Vasas. They won’t move from 4th place because they lost both to Steaua and Primorac.

Standings: 1. Vasas 9 (3), 2. Primorac 6 (3), 3. Steaua 6 (3), 4.ZPC HET Ravijn 3 (3), 5. Invictum 0 (4).

Savona and Oradea qualified for the second round and will play for 1st place in the group tomorrow.

Oradea defeated Galatasaray. The Romanian team was almost always in front, but Galatasaray was a goal or two behind until the end of the first half. A minute before the middle break, only a goal separated the rivals. Oradea led 5:4. Then, Dragomirescu scored from a 6 on 5 and opened the hosts’ series of six consecutive goals. But, new twists were yet to come. Mladost replied with a 3:0 series and regained a slim lead (6:5). The Montenegrins leveled at 6:6 and 7:7, but Mladost scored the last two goals in the game and deserved the victory.
